As a business owner within the MICE (Meetings, Incentives, Conferences & Exhibitions) sector I have chaired SAACI Eastern Cape and sat on the National board for 6 years.
My business and other interests have seen me co-opted onto various tourism forums and am currently co-opted onto the board of Nelson Mandela Bay Tourism.
My activist career includes organising protests against the proposed fish farm, beach clean ups and forming the Arlington Waste Action Group.
I want to see the potential of our Metro realised in every way possible!
The daily running of all the Metro departments has to improve which will lead to an influx of investment into the city and inevitably improve employment & reduce poverty and crime.
There are areas that can be fixed easily and quickly like the city cleanliness and tourism attractions.
Corruption and cronyism must stop so that the right people are employed to structurally maintain the city and grow the necessary capabilities
There needs to be more stability within the metro / political structures to ensure that there is continuity when there are political changes.
Attention must be given to improving ALL services and infrastructure to ALL areas to create a fairer society and caring Metro.
When the city starts being run correctly, investment will come and more money with start to flow allowing for improved infrastructure for ALL!
By using more actions than words! Once people see what can be achieved when there is no "political" agenda I believe movements like AIM will lead the way in changing this country.
By just showing integrity and delivering on promises one can succeed.
There will be very difficult and hard choices to make but with the right approach and using "Integrity" as a guide we will be able to show what is possible.
Positive, well thought through ACTIONS are very important to show the people of the metro how it should work.
The "family lifestyle" city in the country. It has the best of many worlds as the people are incredibly friendly and there is less emphasis placed on one’s financial and social status compared to other cities.
Second to the “The Bay” and then the incredible surrounds nearby.
I cannot stand by and watch how the current political incumbents continue to use the metro for their own political power struggles while a city with incredible potential slides into decay.
"Be the change you want to see" is a phrase that led me to confirm my allegiance to AIM.
After meeting Khusta Jack and knowing some of the other AIM members I have decided that the integrity found in this movement is what is needed to effect change in this Metro.

After working in many sales positions in Johannesburg including a stint selling property in the 1990's I joined a company involved with exhibition and conference equipment.
In 1999 I became a partner and Director of Scan Display Solutions, currently one of the biggest exhibition stand building companies in South Africa.
In 2007, I decided with my wife to leave Johannesburg as we had a young child and wanted a better lifestyle. We re-located to Nelson Mandela Bay in the same year and looked at various work opportunities over the next 12 months.
We settled on starting up a new company to service and supply exhibition and branding equipment to the Conference and Exhibition sector in the Eastern Cape as well as nationally. Our company, Periexpo has grown year on year since its inception around 2008 and continues to do well. (Except during the Covid Pandemic which has hit our sector hard). Pre-Covid period we employed five staff including ourselves and generated much casual employment.
