Economic Development

Biography

My passion is economic development.

As a journalist I have written about business in all its forms since 1980.

Through the years I have had the privilege of being part of developments which have made a difference in the province and have worked with some of the top business people in the country.

I have also travelled extensively in the region and have a good understanding of what makes a successful metro.

What do you want to see change/improve in NMB?

Service levels must constantly improve for everyone.

How will you bring about this change/improvement in NMB through AIM?

By helping to empower residents to realise that their vote counts - they can choose the parties that have failed them or a movement that is by the residents for the residents.

With AIM representatives in council, we would keep other parties and officials accountable - the metro first and national or personal priorities second.

Fundamental to this happening is clamping down on graft and corruption - people must go to jail.

What is your favourite place/thing about NMB?

The people are so resilient (and friendly). The metro is also surrounded by natural beauty.

Why did you join AIM?

Because it is non-political. I believe it was a mistake to bring politics into local government.

At present councillors are first members of political parties and a far second residents of the metro.

As such, their priorities are to please their masters in Cape Town or Gauteng at the expense of the residents.
